Elizabeth Lindsay

Elizabeth was born in Leicester in 1947 and spent her childhood in Southampton. Her favourite past-times as a child were reading and riding. She learnt to ride bareback on carthorses in a nearby field!

She trained in the Central School of Speech and Drama and has worked mainly in the world of theatre and TV. She is probably most well-known as the scriptwriter of the
Heggarty Haggerty and Hoobs TV shows. Books soon followed her scripts and now she has over 30 titles published.

As well as writing two series centred upon ponies, she has also written many other adventure and fantasy type children's books. She has also written several scripts for radio dramas. Added to all these activities, Ms. Lindsay is also a trained puppeteer and worked the puppets on the popular 1970s/80s TV programme
Pipkins - which I am sure you will remember if you are old enough!

She now lives in Gloucestershire. She doesn't ride any more but still loves reading.

Midnight Dancer Series:
A fairly traditional pony series, although it leans more to the adventure side of things than the schooling/shows side. The character of Midnight Dancer was based upon the author's first pony Hot Spot, although she had to wait until she was grown up before owning her very own pony!
